This year the Conference will be partnering with International Messengers to sponsor a short-term ministry trip to Romania.
What: The Joshua Project began in 1999 with two women determined to show Jesus' love to Romania's neediest children – those suffering from HIV/AIDS. This meant getting involved in their lives whether in hospitals, orphanages, care homes, on the streets, or in their homes. Today the project shows love and compassion in extraordinary ways to more than 400 children/teens and their families.
Who: Lord willing, a team of 6 to 8 conference attendees (interested friends are welcome) will travel to Romania to serve at one of the Joshua Project's camps for teens with HIV/AIDS. These camps draw new kids into the year-round program and provide strong discipleship for those already involved. The camps include Bible studies, HIV/AIDS education and lots of fun activities to promote relationship-building.
Where: At a modern hotel/resort facility in western Romania. Because of the kids' fragile health, the facilities must be clean and provide nutritious meals.
When: August – exact date will be set in Januray. The trip will require two weeks for travel and ministry time.
Why: The Joshua Project was established to help kids with HIV/AIDS live as fully as possible. Besides treating them with respect and compassion, the goal is to reach each child/teen with the Gospel before entering eternity. Camps are the most effective method to accomplish this goal. They need help!
How do we benefit? Stepping outside our comfortable lives and getting involved with others less fortunate than ourselves forces us to admit our dependency upon God's enabling and provision. This takes our faith to a new level.
